Clydeen McDonald added,
Unlikely Clydeen, given that the government has now officially banned most opposition parties from taking part in the election.
Not so. Opposition leaders have flexible, fluid affiliations w/parties and though a particular party may not have run candidates during Dec. 10th municipal elections, as individuals they are not banned from running under a different banner as they often do.
So you’re saying I was correct, yes?
I'm saying we cannot underestimate opposition leaders, who've been governors, or members of the National Assembly, and remain relatively popular. If they sense strong support from their base they may still run against Maduro.
If infact Maduro is re-elected, it's clearly due to being the most popular candidate at a time when the opposition is in total shambles and at odds with one another--not due to the exclusion of parties.
