Voting has begun in Dominica. The Chief of police made statements on Thursday regarding a successful operation to unblock the Salisbury road. Roadblocks had been held by opposition supporters who set fire to a significant amount of debris in Salisbury & Marigot in recent days.

During the op, police came under attack by a ‘mob’ “pelting stones, bottles & firebombs at police.” They attempted to firebomb Salisbury police stn. “Police had to use necessary force & in that situation used tear gas & rubber bullets to disperse the crowd & protect themselves.”

Chief of Police: “I want to confirm and inform the public that at no time did the police use live ammunition in the community of Salisbury.” He stated that the Marigot highway was unblocked by the people of Marigot who themselves had blocked the road, & says roadways are clear.

This is important to note as there were reports that 2 people were shot/injured. Video purporting to show one of the injured, shows a Haitian youth in a waiting room and cuts short before exhibiting the leg injury, though it seems to not be serious. He says he was a bystander.
