Imagine being an unofficial U.S. colonial possession/protectorate like Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia and Canada (yikes!) and having no clue who a guy is one day, then receiving orders by U.S. command to recognize the guy as President, and having to comply.

i get your point but i think the canadian state's lead in overthrowing both aristide and zelaya--not to mention the wider role canada plays in resource extraction throughout latin america--make it an imperial power in its own right, not a usa colony, even if both often agree
