At this time last year, we were witnessing silence + conflicting statements from what remained of the MUD opposition (in disarray). Henri Falcón had entered the presidential race; the rest were split on whether to support calls for total boycott, or to endorse him (or violence).

Efforts to oust Chavismo have yielded no success internally. Chavistas overwhelmingly won the state governorships in 2017. Support for the PSUV was too strong a force against the coalition of opposition parties. Delegitimization efforts would require action by the United States.

By my count, all 4 current opposition state governors are from AD (Acción Democrática) which holds National Assembly seats & state legislatures. AD was previously VP candidate Claudio Fermín's party—but Falcón/Fermín don't count as opposition because they ran opposed to Maduro?

Voluntad Popular, which is doing the groundwork right now, is the only opposition group which seems to be recognized (if even) by the US/intl media. That's Guaido's party supposedly—but he's SO obscure he isn't mentioned once on their Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_Will …
