Electric cars play a big role in ‘going green’ to help save the planet. But as CNN has uncovered, a dirty secret lies within... a secret of child labor in some of the batteries that power the cars. Nima Elbagir, @dominiquecnn, and Alex Platt report.https://snpy.tv/2JK0PZ7

Very good that CNN pays attention to this problem. The cobalt here is also used a lot for smartphones and laptops.https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/business/batteries/congo-cobalt-mining-for-lithium-ion-battery/ …

Child labour is not limited to cobalt mining, it exist wherever there is artisanal mining. The solution is to gradually phase out artisanal mining in Africa.

Some countries like Nigeria have in recent times focused it's solid mineral development policies on artisanal mining. With such policy focus, child labour will continue to grow in a proportional relationship with artisanal mining.

Companies utilising solid mineral from Africa must insist on a base tag (a mining corp tag) when buying products. This base tag should reduce artisanal mines/child labour.

The absence of tags on commodities from Africa is what enabled conflict diamonds, illicit trades in crude oil, etc. The world must battle the grey markets particularly in Asia where these illicit products are mostly sold.

Media is still very heavily controlled by the LA regime but a freelancer on grand can provide some tips outside the armature videos we have been seeing.

Modern slavery is a dirty business where companies walk a thin line. Cobalt is one such mineral that must be carefully approached because of it's link to child labor.https://cnn.it/2w0hvJP

How much did the auto industry pay to have this spoken about? No excuse for unfair labor but let us not distract the viewers from what must be done. #GreenEnergyNow
