Incredible statement from fmr CIA/NSA Dir @GenMhayden on a North Korea capable of delivering a nuke on an ICBM: “It is my judgement that it will be more dangerous to prevent NK from getting to that state than it would be for us to try to cope with a NK in that state.”

I recall all of the congressional hearings held on whether we should go into Iraq and Afghanistan. All the experts were IGNORED. Americans have never learned that their foreign policy arrogance carries a heavy price.

Every interview on the nuke subject skirts the details about what a n-strike would mean to Seoul, Japan or mainland. Millions dead or what? Nuclear winter? Fallout across mainland??

It's not really incredible. It's close to a consensus view among commentators outside government. Unfortunately, it's also not his judgment to make, and never was, as the intelligence community advises, and does not make policy.

I've started to read some sense. People shouldn't allow leaders to wage destructive wars under any pretext. The US supported by the media tasted it in Vietnam and more recently in Iraq. The Germans tried this and lost 6 million people and much more death and destruction on others.

We tend to criticize un-elected autocrats and dictators whose policies we don't happen to like. But Crafty Labour Leader Tony Blair 'democratically' waged illegal war on Iraq using the votes of war mongering conservatives; disregarding two millions demonstrating against it.

The mistake was turning a blind eye to backroom deals between NK, China and Russia.

None of this is good. Seems it all started when "W" declared North Korea part of the "axis of evil." It's all coming back to haunt us...

Common sense. If the Berlin wall came down and Russia was defanged then dealing with NK & nukes can be handled. The more the populist of NK become aware of their leadership atrocities, economic and human rights, the more a move to a less aggressive society is possible.

It does not take an ex-director of the NSA to say that Nuclear War is worse than all other options.
