David Cameron "already lost at the very beginning" by not offering a strong reason to vote in favor of Europe, President Macron says.

The EU made itself indefensible by refusing to change when Cameron implored. So he tried to scare us into staying but Osborne over-egged it.
-
What change would have sated a few percent? End to FoM? But it's quite clear there's little to no political support for that among EU27, so?

I was going to say sounds like a spoilt child throwing a tantrum! Bloody costly one at that
-
apparently Cameron and Mrs Cameron are ''utterly heartbroken' about Brexit. Doesn't it make you feel soooo much better? Knowing this?

Absolutely correct. I don't accept the Referendum result because my 'side' - that UK is much better off in EU - wasn't represented.
-
UK citizens in the EU weren't allowed to vote? Shaming that 13% in Germany voted for far-right agenda. Here, 52% did.

Cameron fell into FOM trap UK is stuck in. Rather than argue for benefits of FOM, he sought new powers for purely political reasons.
-
Objectively, there was no justification so EU refused. UK now stuck trying to balance popular sentiment against economic reality.
-
But not "popular" sentiment as only a minority voted for
#Brexit - 37% to be precise. The words should be "populist sentiment".#StopBrexit -
Still... more people voted for Brexit than remain.
-
And as is customary for all votes, those who did not vote are considered happy with the status quo.
-
The 37% argument isn't wrong but can't help thinking it's a blind alley. It remains a popular sentiment - for now. Could well change.

Cameron couldn't defend EU. He had 'traded on having a go at it for years'. EU's reputation was already in tatters. As per his Dir of Comms.pic.twitter.com/bou3S71wMe

A referendum about something so strategically important, and to not have your shit together from the start of the campaign, is near madness.
-
It's even worse than calling a snap election then complaining you weren't ready! ;-)
-
... Or complaining there wasn't 'enough debate'.
