How much higher would wages be if the US cracked down on those that hire illegal immigrants and sanctuary cities?

Let’s not pay for wars in other countries. $1B from military budget pays for healthcare. The immigrants who are working and undocumented pay into our system knowing they will not be able to benefit from them. Please, don’t believe the propaganda they peddle. They’re manipulating.

Minimum wage would organically grow, no gov increase, if employers couldn't rely on low cost illegal immigrants to fill positions. If the gov raises minimum wages then the cost of all things rises proportionally

That's not how it works anywhere. Wages are low in every country because that is the goal of capitalism. Neoliberal policy has destroyed unions and made corporations so large and powerful that their influence in politics is massive.

Morality trumps politics & political parties any day. I agree with you. For me while voting rights are important so is honoring the moral responsibilities for constituents' needs which gets ignored once politicians gets elected like in my country.

If your value is minimum wage you should not expect to have a 2 bedroom apartment. In life, everyone doesn't get a trophy. Work to improve your earning power.

Buddy, you can't afford a decent apartment with a job paying more than minimum wage either. The point is workers aren't getting paid anywhere close to the value they're generating anywhere, in any field.

That is a very broad statement, Buddy. Many of us started in minimum wage jobs and advanced. By the time I needed a 2 bedroom, my wife and I had advanced. I didn't have the kids without the ability to support them.

You understand that in most places, it’s not even a TWO bedroom that is well beyond price range, it’s a one bedroom and even a studio. In the N of Boston rent can be $1500 for a studio, no utilities. Slow clap for you for and your wife. Now back to reality...🙄

Point being if one chooses to have a family (or be a single person in a 2 bedroom, the original scenario presented) one should understand they have to provide for that. If you make minomum wage, perhaps kids should wait. No slow clap for common sense needed, but thank you!

Point being, that 1) A living wage should be available as it has been to previous generations of Americans and 2) Affordable housing needs to be made more accessible to those that need it. As soon as you get common sense, come back and talk.

If we truly love our neighbors we will encourage them to seek advancement in their minimum wage job or stretch and gain skills. I work with business owners and, believe me, if you force wage increases, they will fire people to keep overall wage expense constant.

I have seen where the higher minimum wage has Walmart eliminating jobs. Maybe these people need to continue their education move into other careers where they'll be doing better, though sometimes life does keep you in an area with few options. We should shop the better companies.
