“As long as the Supreme Court is making the final decision in issues that people profoundly care about, controversy will find its way to the Supreme Court, and we will be struggling on either side to get our own partisans onto the bench,” says @McCormickProf.pic.twitter.com/vEb9JWNa6L

Partisanship is not a bad thing. All of us are partisans in one way or another. The discipline and wisdom to suspend one’s partisanship is what is required of a justice. One hopes Kavanaugh can do it. Scalia couldn’t.

It's high time now the executive shouldn't be involved at all in appointment of judges so as to avoid partisan judges and maintain the spirit of the independence. The executive should not cherrypick judges. No more shoulder appointments to SCOTUS

I disagree slightly. A president wins office through the vote of the people, and so his appointments are a reflection of that vote. That is part of their campaign promise.

Justice will be sacrificed at the altar of the President and whole concept of rule of law will be vilified.

The S.C. determines constitutionality of legislation. It does not determine policy. Legislators need to write better laws& not rely on lower courts to push things http://thru.It  does then give the appearance that the SC is making policy, when just doing their jobs.

Why do people feel the Court is partisan? Can't the justices just interpret the Constitution differently instead of from a political point of view Only politicians think this way and convince others it's so

Two illegitimate processes to place #NeilGorsuch**** and #BrettKavanaugh**** turned The Supreme Court to a more extreme right Political Court.

Completely agree.....SCOTUS is the arbiter of existing laws made by Congress.... My question is why they would choose to rule on those specific "flash point" cases as the partisans hoped they would?

Not like this. This situation is, or should be, quite extraordinary. Ultimately, The People, the majority of whom are decent, kind and caring of fellow Americans, will speak - - - or the country will fall into the abyss of Greed and Corruption.

B/C some prefer to have 5 unelected judges discover broad rights then force them on society. Legislators abdicate responsibilities, seeing it’s easier to mandate support rather than build it. Any wonder it’s become political?

You're wrong. The @USSupremeCourt does NOT make the final decision in issues. They APPLY THE LAW. The law is the U.S. Constitution, and laws passed by Congress or the states. Not by them. Yes, as long as there's judicial activism we will be struggling to stop it. @BrettKavanaugh
