BJK is way off here, fighting for "equal rights" to be bullies and verbally abusive to others. The umpire should be applauded for doing his job exactly by the book

Keeping on vilifying the umpire is such poor form. He s a reputable and respected umpire and i assure Carlos Ramos would have behaved the same with a man.

The narrative that the men players get away with more code infraction on tennis is simply not true.

The lady manipulates the issue. She claims if men break the rules also women can do so without any consequences. Rather than calling that any athlete regardless of sex has to assume responsibility for his/her own action
-
True.. Serena used her celebrity to bully the official. If this kind of thing is repeated it will make matches between famous and less famous athletes become most unfair.

I agree with BJK that Serena was out of line but not that the umpire, Carlos Ramos, “blew it”. This is assigning false equality of blame. Carlos was just applying the rules that Serena flouted. Change the rules if you want but don’t blame the umpire. Serena was wrong. Period.

@BillieJeanKing I watched the citation for coaching many times. Ramos did not attack Serena's character. She overreacted by taking the coaching violation personally. I understand why she ay have took it that way, but, how can Ramos be responsible for it?Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Here's the opinion of Navratilova. Take a look:https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/10/opinion/martina-navratilova-serena-williams-us-open.html …

Why didn’t the coach stop with the hand signals when Serena was warned the 1st time?
-
Well he was only busted for the hand signals once he didn't repeat them after being called for it
-
But he did know he was not supposed to coach during the match, in the first place. Ultimately, he is the one that caused the whole mess!
-
Yeah it was the starting point. But no point deduction, it's a warning, and usually players just brush it off so I think it's on Serena that she couldn't let it go.

"Out of crisis creates opportunity." How about supporting the umpires' union efforts since he was left hung out to dry in favor of the superstar elite player abusing yet another less paid tournament staffer in her long career.

By saying the umpire blew it, she is passively putting in question the result of the match and tainting Osaka's win. So not cool.
