Anthony was a major MeToo supporter. He strongly defended our rights; he spoke up publicly for us. He was that vital male partner. I am humbled and forever grateful that one of his last major projects was believing in and becoming EP of my recent CNN series on the lives of women.

, we have lost a unique, talented and raw soul. May his soul Rest In Peace

He made the world a better place, its so hard to understand why he thought it would be better off not having him here. So so sad.

Depression lies, and sometimes suicide is just about ending personal pain. His empathy was his greatest gift, but what a load the world gave him to carry.

I just feel sick. I feel as though my travels have ended . He took me and my family around the world. We watched every episode, every journey. It has inspired us to go off the beaten path and try new things and meet new people. My love to his family.

This makes me so sad. I didn’t know him but it felt like it did. I’ve been to 117 countries. Kindred soul. Closest I got to him was eating in the same Afrikaans eatery in Pretoria where the owner who I met didn’t know who he was or even saw the show. I was there b/c of Anthony.

And one of the very few people who went to Lagos, Nigeria and could see the beauty and energy of the Nigerian people

Terrible news; Anthony Bourdain commits suicide. What do you want me to say now Anthony, I've been a big fan of you all those years. Award-winning Top Chef/world traveler, but also al vulnerable man who had already led three lives. I was looking forward to your new season. So sad

Sad day... my prayers to his family and colleagues. May his soul find peace and rest. You had such an amazing personality... real rock star of the culinary world... but i guess we all have demons inside us. I will never forget you, May your soul rest in Peace brother.

I am so saddened, my heart is breaking for his little girl and loved ones. It's sad too, to know that right now the CDC is being stifled when we need more help with suicide prevention. God Rest His Soul. <3pic.twitter.com/mTYX1DWEj3

Let's REBRAND/RENAME depression! Dopamine Deficiency Disorder (DDD) or Serotonin Deficiency Syndrome (SDS), so that the shame and stigma are removed. It's an epidemic people! Just talking is not enough, we need the medical community behind this. PLEASE! #noshame#depressionkills
