It seems it's all about colour or gender now, when will people realise the only way forward is colourless, genderless and focussed on people, whatever colour, gender or religion they happen to be.

It really is disheartening to continuously hear my demographic label used essentially as a pejorative, especially by the mayor of our capital. Keep up the good work in calling this out, Calvin

Agreed, it’s tiresome.

If it was based on meritocracy....

Maybe only white are interested in engineering, just like I bet most hairdressers are women, why force people to do something they don’t want to do

So according to Khan, it doesn't matter if you're crap at the job as long as you're not a white male

I am absolutely 100% certain that each of those white men were employed due to their qualifications and ability. There is not one ounce of evidence they were employed because they are white.

Calvin, of course you’re right, but no one currently wants to hear it. To be a young, working class, straight, white, male in the UK is not a privilege, it’s a cross to bear, cos it’s open season on you!! (Before the trolls start, I know the above isn’t you! But thx for raising)

So SK has a point that "white men" are over represented in these fields. I agree meritocracy is the answer, but then so is exposure to opportunity for ALL.

It seems the Mayor of London is suggesting we should discriminate based on race and gender?
If we truly want equal opportunities for all we should stop discriminating.
Meritocracy is the answer. Not quotas.
