I do miss the times before PBR became a thing. Every game these days seems to have the same shiny aesthetic where everything looks plastic. It might just be post-processing and colour grading but I always thought games looked more 'realistic' when everything was matt.

yeah it's something I've noticed in a lot in recent years too, it can be sometimes just a lack of understanding to which maps to put which detail, or whether to use a different PBR shader for another use case (like cloth/moss)
