My gut reaction is that he asked these students to write these. If Casto was good at one thing it was manipulation through intimidation. He also excelled in making students feel dependent on his approval.

It absolutely is, but I can only imagine it feels like a quin win to gain the approval of someone who can help out your career. Can guarantee none of these kids understood the repercussions at the time.

that's exactly my point - students are in a position where they are fighting for what they can to help their career, and this is taking advantage of that fact
