    This may be true. I don't know what data there is to support that. Tropical systems generate their strength from warm ocean water. So, instead of storms lasting longer after landfall, it might just be that storms are stronger at landfall and then take longer to weaken.

    Quick review of WPC Excessive Rainfall Outlooks leading up to the historic Northeast corridor flash flood event from post-tropical Ida. All warnings were at least contained within the Moderate Risk, and the High Risk area was almost entirely covered by warnings.
