National deficit down from 8.9% in 16/17 to 7.9% in 18/19 - a better trajectory than assumed by the growth commission.

This comes following a strong of postive stats for the Scottish economy. Growth faster than the UK, unemployment near record lows and productivity increasing.

Growth commission lays out a plan to get the deficit down to under 3% by growing the economy, not public spending. Under its plan spending would increase in real terms.

Probably because a lot of the spend isn't decided or spent in Scotland, so its a pretty irrelevant part of GERS.

I'm sorry, do u think HS2 comes to Scotland? Or that the debt repayments were caused by a parliament that was legally forbidden from getting into debt. That's an interesting fact-free take on life. Hope it serves you well.

Fake news. HS2 benefits Scotland and the Scottish Govt do incur debt from borrowing. Those annoying facts just won't go away eh?

Yes they do incur a debt from the borrowing that they were not allowed to borrow until recently. That's how the UK works. And yes I'm sure that HS2 benefits Scotland. Not in a real way, but in a real propaganda way. But yes, fake news etc etc etc

Still no real comment about the difference between the revenue and the spend? In what way could that difference be eradicated? In what way would the spending be changed to clear the difference? The FM doesn’t say how, she’d appreciate your input.

Not paying for a rail network in another country? Not paying for a military geared towards interference and ego-tripping rather than actual defence? Many things could be done in an independent country. When so much of the budget is spent by another government its difficult.

I@understand but my point was only that snp government has done nothing to assist oil and gas during the recent hard times.

Sorry that is simply untrue that they did nothing. Granted very little they have within the Scotland act to influence what was a political orchestrated downturn worldwide

So you should know there has been several peaks and troughs in oil and gas on those decades. For every trough a resultant peak. Funny enough never saw Norway suffer......wonder why. Meanwhile brexit looms.https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2017/jul/27/aberdeen-brexit-worst-british-centre-for-citieis …
