4/ Many people are evacuating on FOOT because of gridlock and they’re already surrounded by flames. Most can barely navigate 2 inches in front of them because they’re moving through thick smoke and falling branches, let alone figure out which route to take to get to the shelter.

5/ There is no time to waste. Every second is another second you could use to get away from the fire. People are already stuck in traffic and this fire is moving unbelievably fast. Do not waste your time.

6/ Of course, I’m not saying to purposely leave your pets at home when you have time to pack them up. But when you don’t have time, and they’re off hiding or they ran out the front door and the fire is heading your way, you need to leave.
