Not true. It was 16th C or earlier. Orange colour came first, developed from natural mutants, then dedication to Royal family. https://goo.gl/x7kT3J

My point is the date is wrong and the Dutch did not develop the orange variety to honour their royal family. There is no documentary evidence for your statement
