Marked line to Niamey doesn't exist, but is needed RT@calestous: Map: #Africa's #railroads cc: @IncredibleMapspic.twitter.com/9xDtq83D7p
@tommymiles that's my issue with incredible maps. they look great but there are often serious omissions.
@lbmnemosyne they're mostly sourced from Wikipedia. There are almost no checks on accuracy for creators of Wikimedia images, unfortunately
@tommymiles they're compelling bt when i know the data, like the 1 on imprisonment, they're just wrong. i wrote them but never heard back.
@lbmnemosyne the only thing I ever heard from them in a similar situation was "we don't create the maps." Sigh
@tommymiles i second that sigh. especially because so many people retweet them!

@calestous @Snottyganda Apart from the TANZAM, the rest are a dead end and perhaps, covered in green vegetation that the track's invisible.
@JosephOkito Kla Kasese,Kla Gulu, Kla Kamwenje all thriving lines even in 86' but systematically pillaged by M7 relatives 2scrap @calestous
@Snottyganda Pillaged 4 scrap metal!. That's tragic.
Am sure it has already been mentioned that Africa has not harmonised standards. "@calestous @IncredibleMaps pic.twitter.com/0Cphr999PM"
@calestous @mukizaedwin @IncredibleMaps Any 1 knows if there's any concerted policy @ AU level to improve on network?
@calestous @mukizaedwin @IncredibleMaps Were built by colonizers w/their interests in mind. Time 4 Africa to "own", harmonize & expand
@calestous @IncredibleMaps little inaccurate. African rail network have 3 or 4 different gauge widths. Not possible to just join them up
