@calestous it's amazing to see how vocal and involved in politics young people are in that part of the world

.@Hanou45168620 African youth are disenfranchised. Largely used as cannon fodder by military and political warloads.
-
@calestous @Hanou45168620 Similar to inner city US youth except gang leaders not military. What would you think of voting age of 16 in US? -
@nuclear94 Some US states already allow voting at 17. Africa has a different age structure though, with 50% of the population under 15. -
@calestous I was able to vote in a primary at 17 when I would be 18 by the general election. 50% under 15, wow. -
@nuclear94 The youth in Africa are also politically quite active and use social media quite effectively. The law has fallen back. -
@calestous not surprising. It often does fall way behind.

@calestous how could that be done?#Afrıca has 54 legıslatures. Not an easy feat. -
@kennethbejeng That is the advantage--it can be pursued country by country. There is already a lot of variation in voting age.

@calestous Lowering voting age to 10 or 16yrs may not make any difference, our electoral institutions are not strong. Votes don't count here! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
