    I wrote this op-ed because I believe that freedom of association must be protected at all costs. It's the basis of Hong Kong's leaderless movement. By criminalizing dissent, the authorities also diminish the freedom of association for more formally organized civil society.

    This is great news. The Aberdeen Lennon Wall was destroyed again last night, and even the non-political posters about how to wash your hands and wear a face mask were torn down!

    Southern District Council, which like every DC bar one saw democrats swept to power last year, has voted to create a “Permanent Lennon Wall.” The current wall, in the tunnel linking Aberdeen town to the praya, is regularly destroyed by police, pro-gov’t residents, and cleaners.

    There's a memorial in HK Park to the doctors and nurses who died because the CCP withheld information that could have stopped a lot of HK people dying. And here we are again. The protests, the unionising, the govt, the virus... everything is connected, everything is politics.

    I have the same questions as If we leave HK for a bit, what's the chance we can't get a flight back in the next few weeks? 🤔 Who knows what other countries and airlines will restrict flights to HK this month? 🤷‍♂️

    Decided to go spend next week back in Oz. Nobody in HK wants to meet face-to-face and I can do the same video conferences there that I do here. The thought has crossed my mind though - given how things are escalating, is there a chance I won't be able to get back into HK....
