I wondered about Chinese art finds of MedEur: that perhaps they arrived after a hiatus post Roman Empire, etc.& found by crusaders.
Time stamp stating 14th C suggests the trade continued from antiquity?, or is MarcoPolo story still cogent?

There's silk road contact etc right through but definite uptick from 13thC and Mongol invasions etc, with Polo being part of this :)
