Was the Roman presence at Horncastle very big? I went to school there, but the most I ever saw was the wall. 
Fairly! There was the Late Roman walled fort and a large unwalled settlement to the south as well!
Large volumes of roman pottery and artefacts have been recovered in Horncastle and surrounding countryside.
