Tealby is not only lovely, but also has an interesting name too! :) Name comes from OE *Tāflas/*Tǣflas, '(settlement of) the Taifali', to which 'by' later added: https://www.academia.edu/24440327/Tealby_the_Taifali_and_the_end_of_Roman_Lincolnshire …https://twitter.com/CatherineEsse/status/947019078299979776 …

Re: the Taifali, whilst Peter Heather treats them as ‘probably Germanic’, Edward James considers them to be ‘Asiatic nomads’... In either case, likely that their presence here relates to the late Roman army & Lincoln's status as a provincial capital (pic=http://bodley30.bodley.ox.ac.uk:8180/luna/servlet/s/xg95jt …)pic.twitter.com/KUJUEsVEaT

Tealby, also the name given to Henry II’s coinage struck from 1158-80. So-named after the 1807 find of over 5,700 specimens at the Lincolnshire village. It breaks my heart to add that 5,127 of them were melted at the Royal Mint.pic.twitter.com/NYdRuXnRKC
