I raise you with a 13th century ice skate crafted from horse bone inscribed with runes: 'iilliin'. This is interpreted as a version of the word 'ilin' with the meaning 'the sole of the foot'. Found 1979 in Tønsberg, Norway (C35127/TR5645)

Wood! Originally bone, but with introduction of iron abt 1,000 years ago, switch to wood.
