Mm yes camels cld cope with cold if properly stabled fed but doubt were common since wld need handlers used to their temperaments n tempers

Fwiw, in Late Antiquity they are simply mentioned alongside horses as beasts of burden and the like in Gaul without any especial fanfare e.g. http://www.caitlingreen.org/2016/05/camels-in-early-medieval-western-europe.html …
