> the forum, rebuilt ?5th/E6thC, could hold up to 100 ppl, & C14 analysis indicates demolished+replaced by Christian graveyard from L6thC :)
For reference, a rough illustration of the extent & position of the forum w/ its church set against modern Lincoln:pic.twitter.com/AUoqosYMys
Horncastle v interesting too: Late Roman walled fort poss reused as Mid Saxon minster+high-status 6/7thC material toopic.twitter.com/kVUNHH68CU
Early Anglo-Saxon finds from Horncastle include a silver boar's head (from a helmet?) & a gold+garnet insect pendant:pic.twitter.com/pLSZhuZyQM
I can still remember finding the helmet mount all those years ago!
All I had found before that was lead! Handed it over to the BM as worked in London at the time.
Wow! Well, thank you for doing that :) It's now in Lincoln Museum, fwiw:pic.twitter.com/CC9XqFexzA
Looks better than when I found it. Also have a bronze boar statuette (Iron Age) in the Lincoln museum. Something about boars and Lincolnshire.
Oh, interesting! Yes, a few of these, they're so cute! Which one was yours?pic.twitter.com/hQmkwQcqs1
They look great together. It's the small one I found. They must have been highly prized.
