How were these used?
Seeing as there's two colours and a "king" piece, possibly something like this : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tafl_games
Thanks, most informative.
@GraffitiGinger would love these
They're so beautiful!!!
Beautifully made too. Not just big bearded thugs with battleaxes. Young Dr Green dishes out daily gems. Always a real delight
Very likely, yes!
what beautiful little treasures. Stunning. Amazing to think of the times they might've been handled over the years at games.
A very cool representation of their land of ice and sea in their color selection

Surely the inspiration for the Tunnocks Tea
cakes wrappers?
Wow @LeeJPalmer check these out for a nice old bit o'glass work x
Fidchell or hnaefatafl?
My guess would be on Hnefatafl.
With spherical pieces though. I'm more inclined toward fidchell
The Fidchell @NigelSuckling created the current ruleset for? IIRC there is also a Hnefatafl variant called Fidchell with a square board.
Round, yes but not necessarily flat. These pieces show signs of being moved around some sort of furrow going by wear patterns.
