Hah! Interesting idea! Bede is cribbing from Gildas here; however, is an interesting question if Gildas is echoing continental authors here…
Gildas or Bede, whichever one suggests the Saxons were carving a swathe of destruction across Britain, which isn't supported by archaeology.
