Are you perhaps going to stay there for the meteors tonight? :)
Ah, if only! Alas not this time :)
There is always next year :)
Mablethorpe St Peter lay offshore from this spot; lost to sea in 1530s, tho church visible until 1870s. Beach finds: https://skegness.wordpress.com/2010/08/29/archeological-finds-lincolnshire-coast/ …pic.twitter.com/iMtDZEv1Pi

Hello Doc -- I am stunned. I am a gardener - I watch fauna deteriorate ( very quickly ) - I am gobsmacked at this preservation.
It's fabulous, and all along the coastline both in Lincolnshire and beyond. Just out there below the beach and/or low tide mark.....!
I must swot up on my chemistry
It's the waterlogging that is responsible, prevents decay, I believe :)
Family holidays in the '60s. Lovely beaches; freezing sea.
Pretty much the same now, with a bit of a reduced chance of seeing the drowned Mesolithic forest due to beach replenishment, alas!
Was it visible before excavation? (Sorry am so ignorant abt this)
On occasion! Some pictures here :)https://twitter.com/caitlinrgreen/status/596607141726822400 …
Years of going there and I never knew. Thank you so much for showing me. Mabelthorpe is on my visit list.
No problem :)
Not been to Mablethorpe beach in such a long time! Looks like a lovely evening.
We've lucky with the weather today.
Yes, really lovely evening! Fab to get such nice weather for once! :)
Absolutely! Hopefully we can keep the good weather for a while.
Fingers firmly crossed! :)
