This might work for some cems, but def not all—urban cems esp are used over long period, some high status, men+women+children present etc >

And tbh..who'd have left Africa deliberately to get wet here?
not much foeuptune or fame either!
-
Has to be said, a fair number of Roman writers had similar views on the merits of Britain. Yet people did clearly come!
-
For the hunting dogs, the slaves and the tin, IIRC - was that Caesar or Agricola?
-
Now there's a question! All important; tin, fwiw, a consistent motivator over time from Bronze Age forward, it would seem!
-
And we all love a good hunting dog.
-
Indeed! But I wouldn't have travelled across an empire for months to get mine!

Very wise!

Although the point still stands, is it ethnically diverse or just like danaerys targaryen turning up with her army, then leaving?

-
No, again, don't think army explanation works! This carries on well into 4thC and then in post-Roman cems in western Britain, + evidence of>

I still find it difficult to assume that, especially when limited trace in DNA findings. Again, like saying India diverse because we went.

-
Well, as before, modern DNA evidence is v dubious as historical evidence! And again, think percentages in cems suggest analogy not a great >

After all this was an outpost really, the ratio of Roman soldiers to auxiliaries lowest in empire. Shows low priority or no need.
-
In fairness that varied a lot over time - fairly often Britain was a heavily militarised province (and indeed at

one point simply declared its own empire including large chunks of Gaul)
