@caitlinrgreen @chopin_slut said I should get in touch with you to find out etymology of 'Sutton Hoo'. 'Hoo', is the word, English? thanks
-

so many 'place' words! 'tor' means 'hill', same as 'Hoo'? German 'hoch'? Torbay, in Devon settled 'Torbay' Newfoudland. etymology 'Tor'? thx
-
Old English tor, 'outcrop, peak, hill', borrowed from British Celtic; Torbay is the bay near Torre, which was named from such a feature.

interesting! read that 70% are of Anglo-Saxon origin, leaving 30% other, like British Celtic, French, etc.
#Tor
