Have to admit, sceptical of modern DNA studies :-/ Isotopes relating to AS migration open to multiple interpretations too...
This is v much my feeling too. Alex Woolf is great on such matters (sceptical but well-informed).
He held out more hope for ancient DNA analysis but apparently it's far too £££ right now for large scale studies
Yes, I gather Pat Geary has work in progress along those lines. Will be interesting to see the results.
Get the sense even the least convincing studies have something to contribute towards refining future methodologies
As for isotopes have a strong feeling there's even more refinement to be done b4 we start getting accurate results!
