we went. When we went we couldn't go on it as the road to the beach had collapsed onto the beach.

Unfortunately. There are some beautiful & interesting places on that coastline too. Scarborough is 1 of them.
I love Scarborough :) Also Staithes a bit further north; a wonderful coastline :)
I love Whitby & Filey. Whitby is interesting. Filey is quiet but beautiful. It's also quite cheap for shopping.
