do you think there is relation between Proto-Sematic names & what is in early C.20th.was called Atlanto-Mediterranean Race?
I think Punic/Phoenician connection is the most credible explanation, as per my post :)
thanks, Is there any explanation about how those isles aquaird Proto-Sematic names?
Punic links noted, but my post is so far only attempt to link archaeology w/ the names :) Will write article at some point :)
as you know Punic language is Sematic, not Proto Sematic, so if the names are PS the contact must be older than w/ Punic.
.@caitlinrgreen isn't better to consider the names of those Scottish isles Sematic,& were distorted by time?
PrSem just used as useful shorthand for reflecting lexical roots, doesn't necessarily imply anything re: date of coinage :)
.@caitlinrgreen if there are Sematic traces in Scottish Gaelic, the theory will find great support.
.@caitlinrgreen I found the results of Clan Donald DNA analysis,& I saw how the extreme British North is diversified.
.@caitlinrgreen if clan Donald's diversification is old; this will support the Punic contact, & presence in Western Scottish isles.
