Forest was waterlogged & flooded as sea-levels rose after last 'Ice Age'--this event was C14 dated to 6174–5961 BC at nearby Theddlethorpe.

The drowning of this forest by the rising tide was, of course, part of larger post-'Ice Age' flooding of Doggerland:https://twitter.com/caitlinrgreen/status/586600030150270976 …
Dr Caitlin Green added,
Worth recalling that Doggerland before flooding=varied landscape, hills+valleys+lakes+marshes: http://theconversation.com/doggerlands-lost-world-shows-melting-glaciers-have-drowned-lands-before-and-may-again-26472 …pic.twitter.com/O3zhUvy8gD

Worryingly, http://www.nature.com/nclimate/journal/v6/n4/abs/nclimate2923.html … (2016) suggests this coastline in 600–5000yrs time (via http://flood.firetree.net/ )pic.twitter.com/f9AUxLuOq0
@caitlinrgreen You can understand that as a Dutchman, this is very worrying to me. *gulp*
@MariusHollenga Not so great from a Lincolnshire perspective either! At least ppl starting to look at longer-term future, I guess :/ :(
@caitlinrgreen I trust fully the capability of people to think only about their own short-term gains to the detriment of their future. :(
@MariusHollenga @caitlinrgreen my first thought was "London. Gone."
@DorothyKing @MariusHollenga Maybe they'll move the whole lot up to Harrogate, like in The Kraken Wakes?! ;) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kraken_Wakes …
@caitlinrgreen @DorothyKing I MUST READ THIS BOOK
@MariusHollenga @DorothyKing It's v v good, though not quite as good as Chrysalids if I recall correctly.... :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chrysalids …
@caitlinrgreen @DorothyKing *adds both books to list* Thanks for the unexpected SF tips!
