@DrDonnaYates great--another study of modern, not ancient, DNA...Hate these, depend so much on assumptions etc :-/ Better read, I s'pose...
@caitlinrgreen Oh I don't think it is so bad as they mean to look at the genetic makeup of the modern UK. Assumptions made, of course.
@DrDonnaYates I hope not :) just downloaded. Prev studies seriously put me off these kinda studies eg same data in two diff studies linked >
@DrDonnaYates > to a 50-100% migration/popn replacement event c500AD, or a 5-10% one: all that changes=underlying historical assumptions :(
@caitlinrgreen I won't defend it too far :) it was just a nice lil evening read over here
@DrDonnaYates hah, no worries! :) it could be great, just past experience suggests modern DNA isn't the solution everyone hoped it would be!
@DrDonnaYates OTOH, if they started doing significant DNA work on 5/6thC burials......!
@caitlinrgreen Someone just posted the nature article http://www.nature.com/articles/nature14230.epdf?referrer_access_token=IdVl-z0ZuqsEFDrbAbtmutRgN0jAjWel9jnR3ZoTv0MiE0_B2kFTYAb64eH_EPxJeiJzg7Mfl6MEBC6p_EUzUl2TurV2pYso8RmPYSTSQGx-jzc5MazCLrzNj5otu9mZU4iCklDuMz2qEMvsG-3bCAsSys5WTjgRoNjGQVi3bJfDVZGVrHW8iF1r5bwuczyu9EXLp1IsjXuoCGNZOqZPtDjEJ1542chTxGbq_s9K2YJWH83KEaWNmiE1rz03v1XL&tracking_referrer=www.nature.com …
