@caitlinrgreen ...early for much detail it seems. Was curious concerning the personal name Luda.
@Harry_cartoons It's attested in docs and place-names, though sometimes hard to distinguish in PNs from OE river-name Hlude etc :)
@caitlinrgreen with the first (York) find would it be possible to mount something into the 'horn' I can see a string being looped through it
@history_witan Sadly, the two horn-sockets don't connect, so wouldn't work.
@caitlinrgreen maybe a string went through the tongue to form a sort of necklace, I just have this feeling it may be used to ward of spirits
@history_witan That's the current best guess, with the ears/horns purely decorative, although still very uncertain! https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/512350 …
@caitlinrgreen perhaps something was as it suggests stuck in the 'ears', perhaps small pieces of antler, because to me that is what I see
@history_witan that might work! Though would be unparalleled to my knowledge :/ could be like Alfred jewel, but 2 sticks?!
@caitlinrgreen @YMT_Rachel :) It's on Wikimedia Commons https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Sutton_on_the_Forest_Mount_YORYM_2009_24.jpg … but hasn't got a home on Wikipedia yet. Where should it go?
@PatHadley @YMT_Rachel Ooh, excellent! Well, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Saxon_art … could perhaps do with an extra image of the less-well-known variety?!
@caitlinrgreen @YMT_Rachel Done. Let's see if any other Wikipedians take an interest...
@PatHadley @YMT_Rachel Looks good :)
@m39618462 Ooh, good luck! :D Pics when done!?
