Chysauster, a still-standing, Roman-era settlement in Cornwall: one of my favourite sites :) http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/chysauster-ancient-village/ …pic.twitter.com/c4RfaWVS7I

@Wetdarkandwild Also worth checking out Chapel Euny well if haven't seen :) On Sancreed, also http://www.ancientstones.org.uk/Corn_Sancreed.htm …pic.twitter.com/cBBzyzcEu2
@caitlinrgreen Is that the one close to Carn Euny? If so, we did stumble across it! Beautiful. So atmospheric.
@Wetdarkandwild yes, that's the one (or rather, two, as one large, one small), down a muddy track! Sancreed is by far the best though!
@caitlinrgreen Very muddy but gorgeous!
@Wetdarkandwild oh, yes! I love it! Both wells probably pre-Reformation cult sites, tho' how much older is matter of speculation/belief! :-)
@caitlinrgreen That's one of the things I love about these sites - without the Romans to give them archaeological context, they're timeless
Reminded of Sancreed and its well in Cornwall--some interesting info and speculation here :) http://www.cornishancientsites.com/Sancreed%20well.pdf …
@caitlinrgreen Could be a time portal to another age.
@caitlinrgreen oooh that's yet *another* place I wanted to and *nearly* got to in Nov.... I must return to west Pendeen :)
@CatherineEsse oh, it's well worth it! lol! :)
@caitlinrgreen Brilliant, thank you!
