Her remains apparently sent for DNA testing in 2009, be interesting to see what results show: http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/consumption/groups/public/documents/committee_report/archserv140509item9pdf.pdf …pic.twitter.com/9d3b2RzYB1
Quick update on this if anyone interested: chased it up, DNA testing unfortunately never completed due to the person doing it moving away...
@caitlinrgreen Oh drat. My students just asked about evidence of Africans in England in early medieval period--I was hoping for good news...
@commish24 is still some poss evidence, incl at least 3 individuals id'd via skeletal analysis, but DNA would have made more secure :-/
@commish24 Also this, of course, relating to 9thC Ireland: https://twitter.com/caitlinrgreen/status/550306385507147777 … :)

@caitlinrgreen Requesting if any link to a full copy of: EEA 9, 1980, please?
@Gurdur Sadly, not online, unlike the PhD thesis. Can be ordered by post from publisher at half-price, £6.60: http://www.eaareports.org.uk/angsax.html
@caitlinrgreen Despite much searching on http://www.oxbowbooks.com/ could not find EEA 9. Would be v grateful for any help possible on that
@Gurdur I can't spot either on Oxbow, but EAA website says available, so email oxbow@oxbowbooks.com or copies on Amazon, tho' cost more? :-/
@caitlinrgreen Okeydokey. Will do. Many thanks again! By the way, is that your photo of the grave in your tweet?
@Gurdur No, public domain image from Wiki---added link to latest post in case you want :)
@caitlinrgreen Thanks! Was asking because of giving credit in a tweet I will send out later.
@Gurdur No problem :)
@caitlinrgreen I'm thinking #EastAnglia was more culturally diverse than is oft assumed, outward looking rather than in?
@Royal_Tudor Oh, I think so. It's EAnglia where largest AS immigrant communities in 5/6C, there where also Scand immigrants in 6thC+9thC >
@Royal_Tudor >, and Islamic dirhams and Indian coins found here too. Modern focus on land-transport makes look more isolated??
