@caitlinrgreen thanks for this. My aunty moved to Sleaford. It's only a few houses so surprised it gets a mention! -
@zalzalahbutt It was a fairly major centre in the Anglo-Saxon period: 2 huge cemeteries here, plus major trading centre close-by etc! :) -
@caitlinrgreen in any case I applaud your research and what a most wonderful ans surprising find it is. -
@zalzalahbutt Thank you, much appreciated :)

@caitlinrgreen Coming directly from southern Scandinavia do you think? -
@Harry_cartoons yep, seems most plausible option, and some local AS pottery has Baltic links.... -
@caitlinrgreen I find the links between the people of Sutton Hoo & the wider southern Scandinavian world the most intriguing of the period. -
@Harry_cartoons def intriguing -- did you read the Sam Newton book on Beowulf and Wast Anglia? Worth a look if not :) http://wuffings.co.uk -
@caitlinrgreen No, I didn't. Thanks, I shall certainly check it out!

@caitlinrgreen yes. Amber was a huge Baltic trade. I'm sure that there is a lot to find ... ;-0).. -
@HyettNeal indeed, and stretching back into prehistory too! -
@caitlinrgreen yes. An amazing material. .still big in Baltic today (!) Plus the notoriety over the Amber room now in St Petersburg

Dr.
@caitlinrgreen What are the sources of amber in early Anglo-Saxon England? Is it imported?https://twitter.com/caitlinrgreen/status/543744306524467200 …
-
Dr.
@caitlinrgreen I asked about the source of amber, because Vikings exported amber to Muslim world in middle ages.https://twitter.com/Ahmed_Alhasania/status/599552245932363776 … -
@Ahmed_Alhasania Missed this one, sorry --- there were some local sources, but most thought to come from the Baltic.
