Try and get Mainz museum Romano Germanic Central museum. They have a very interesting reconstruction of how a Leader of auxiliaries would use this on his horse!. Sadly my photos are unusable but it was a joy to visit

Frankfurt I cannot remember which city in which order I think Frankfurt but they are in building a new museum much needed I crawled the last stairs steps as no lift and second floor and very lofty ceilings . Elegance but so high.. Their Roman and early medieval rooms. Awesome
