Stunning. But when did mediaeval lose its ‘a’? Has english history been modernised again? (Still refuse to call Boadicea, Boudica!)
Word is 19thC invention & this spelling been around a while... OED: "1876 W. Stubbs Early Plantagenets 6 Weapons drawn from the storehouse of medieval English history"... Also cf. French médiéval (1874), Italian medievale (1868).
