This is the thing, isn't it - anything where men try, for the wont of a better phrase, to feel and be better has been hijacked by people who want to "go back to how things were", rather than invent new futures; new kinds of boys and menhttps://twitter.com/drewskingle/status/1052894477277376512 …

Any men's group that was intended for this is co-opted by bell ends, of which there are far too many... They then turn into those pathetic "men's rights activists" cults.

This is true... but don't despair. Looking at my children & their friends, I see a new batch of adults coming thru. Far less judgmental, more open-minded and honest & I think they will make a better future for us all

hear hear! My twenty-something (male) kids & their peer group are an amazing group of young men, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the next generation. I see compassion, kindness, caring & honesty too - & they seem so secure in their 'manliness' unlike my generation

Agreed. My son and his mates are all talking openly about anxiety, depression and all sorts of stuff, which augurs well for a future generation of more open and empathetic males

Men. We need to get together and talk about something real: The #manbox. It lies behind and below so much that’s harmful in culture. It’s not maleness, it’s #masculinity - the code that tells us we are more / better / higher value than women. https://twitter.com/NeilMackay/status/1050804532731662336 …

Hi Neil. I hear you and agree. Silence is complicity. We men are the necessary locus if change. The #manbox has to be named & broken. I’d like to hold an event like this 👇🏽 In Scotland. If you’d like to collaborate, get in touch. Nah. MRAs are small in number. Good men are the majority. The http://www.mensdevelopmentnetwork.ie  has the 7 Key Questions for Men to get us having supportive conversations with each other like @caitlinmoran has so lovingly suggested. Thanks Caitlín!

We have a church-related men’s breakfast every other Saturday morning and that’s a good place to be and to talk (and not seeking to go back in time).

Have you seen The Red Pill? That was a very surprising documentary about MRAs. The creator Cassie Jay did a great Ted talk I prefer being egalitarian as many use gender focus as an excuse to fight and be dicks

'How things were' generally never were. On a group chat the other day, my mates were unironically bemoaning 'PC gone mad' ' can't say anything these days' but they're 40, not 70, and there really is nothing you can't say at work now that you could say 15 years ago.
