The male equivalent of feminism should also be called feminism, otherwise it sets itself up in reaction. As it happens men benefit from feminism. The graphs of increased suicide rates etc. seem to coincide with periods when feminism has been weak. #thinkingoutloud

This is the correct answer. It's 2018--any feminism that is not intersectional is bad feminism. The patriarchy harms men, as well, which we've seen thousands of stories of in this conversation.

The "male equivalent of feminism" IS feminism. At the heart of feminism is the criticism of gender stereotypes and gender norms which privilege certain behaviours but are also restrictive and damaging, regardless of the sex of the person they restrict or damage...

Any men's group that was intended for this is co-opted by bell ends, of which there are far too many... They then turn into those pathetic "men's rights activists" cults.
-
I'm all for men's rights but we have in fact got them.
-
Yes. We have all the rights. Some utterly needless at the expense of others.
-
Please elaborate on all these rights we have that women/others don't have.

Anything wrong with masculinism? Giving voice to issues when men are treated unfairly due to gender. Obviously not as much an issue as it is for women but does happen E.g. custody arrangements, men often portrayed as idiots on TV ads etc.
-
Both of those issues stem from the systems that feminism is fighting to change. Welcome aboard friend!

No reason why the two should be mutually exclusive. In fact, better to drop the potentially divisive gender labels alltogether and just call it respect and fairness to other human beings.
-
Feminists know they’re not mutually exclusive. Men’s groups seem to have difficulty understanding that. The only men’s activism I’ve seen is not about making things better for men, but about stripping women of equality and “putting them back in their place.”

I'm an MRA, WANT a chat?
-
Sure. How do you feel about your movement being hijacked by pedophiles and violent abusers?
-
You got any evidence to back that up?
