All inequalities diminish both sides - the oppressor and the oppressed - in different ways.

lol white women will claim that their white males are "fucked over" by the patriarchy before they will ever acknowledge the plights of WOC.

The social pressure of the Patriarchy steers men into liking only things that endorse it. It tries to make men who disagree feel weaker. Fuck that shit. Lets all be traitors to the patriarchy.

Yes! have you read bell hooks? The Will to Change is phenomenal about the way in which the patriarchy has fucked men over... and what they can do about it

I got into that in 1984 after having a son. Started a DPhil but could find no supervisor, no books, nothing. Femininity had been deconstructed but masculinity was REAL. Sigh. Was single parent of 3 kids so gave up.
-
But noticed that though wd NEVER say to daughters 'U can't do X cos UR a girl' found myself unable to allow son to leave house with eg headband with dangly flowery bits. or pretty dresses which he'd asked for as feared neighbours forceful response. Spotted masc v strongly policed

Things like religion (esp the lds/mormon church) have such gender roles & that's the main reason why I'm not religious any more. I think we should just get rid of these 'roles' as much as possible. Women w shouldn't have to be in the kitchen, men shouldn't have to be outside
-
Etc. I knew plenty of women who would be 5x better at outdoor service projects etc and as a not very physically strong man I would ofent just feel useless and feel worse about doing outdoor service things because even if I tried my best, I wasn't helping as much as everyone slse
-
& That made me hate myself. Meanwhile if instead of forcing everyone into these roles, those women who don't like doing things like cooking for those less fortunate or whatever could be out doing yard work or shoveling snow etc etc
-
& those men who don't want to do outdoor things could stay in and help with things like planning events, making food, taking care of kids etc etc
-
I think that if we get rid of these roles & stereotypes as much as possible, everyone will be able to feel comfortable as who they are, rather than feeling ashamed, or hating themselves for being different, or whatever. Hopefully that will happen sometime in the future. (:
-
Because I'd love absolute equality between everyone, and in my opinion it won't happen until we break down the stereotypes & roles society has put on everyone. That's just a little bit of my thoughts though (:

It fucks nearly all the human race over, tbh, apart from a few who *really* benefit. Which is why feminism helps and frees men, too.
