        I always presumed colourised film would make it seem more real and recent, but that's above and beyond ...those people ARE US, and it happened here, in Europe

        Yup. The experiment into the impact of film starts now. Will our kids feel the first world war like we did, without knowing anyone in it, because of these images. Or will it also slip into Waterloo-like obscurity?

        It's the speed being normalised that's got to me...so used to seeing the sped up jerky almost comedic footage of that era. This really makes it so real.
