I wrote a personal essay about the challenges of getting paid to do what you love most as a job. In my case, that thing was bike touring. Very stoked to start off 2020 early with my first Outside print byline!

I'm just not a big media crier, so I'm mystified. Highly recommend the show—especially for people who loved the books in the '80s and '90s. They've updated all the old plot-lines with more people of color, queer and trans characters, and stuff that's relevant to kids today.

I've cried at some point in almost every episode of the new Baby-Sitters Club show, and I can't figure out if it's the most moving piece of media in all existence, or if I'm just using it to finally process some pandemic anxiety and my 20-year-old cat's death?

Every once in awhile I tell a new friend about some weird thing I did in the past and they don't believe me and demand photo evidence. Today that thing was running 31 miles through Philly dressed like Rocky Balboa and I even found an old link

I recognize that every living being on this earth is trying to buy a sub-$1000 "fitness bike" right now due to the pandemic. That said, where can I buy my wife one? She finally wants to ride, right at the moment when they're all sold out everywhere.

Make these calls NOW Breonna Taylor was essential. Make a call to Mayor Greg Fischer to demand accountability for the police who murdered her in her sleep.

Thread: For 2020, is tracking every cyclist who is killed by a driver, in the hopes that we all start treating driving like the life-or-death responsibility that it is.

It wasn’t easy without parks, play dates, and daycare, but it looks like we finally found a place to go every day to give our lives meaning.

Several stories I was excited to write have been canceled, understandably. I'm grateful for more childcare time but worried about $$. If any editors have story needs related to running, bikes, fitness, adventure, parenting, queers, Austin, etc., please consider me. Thank you!

The sad realities of quarantine life are finally setting in for my two-year-old extrovert. She just downgraded her “want to go play with kids” requests to “want to look at pictures of kids on mama phone.”

I’ve really been enjoying the Adventure Sports Podcast lately, so I’m stoked/honored to be on today’s episode about the highs and lows of being a bike tour guide. Check it out! Feels like 100 years ago that we recorded this but it was probably a month ago?

We remember a time when HIV/AIDS was called “gay-related immune deficiency” aka GRID and “gay cancer”. NEVER AGAIN will we let world leaders transfer blame to communities. Trust science over discrimination always.

As a treat for fact-checkers, all the audio files of interviews I've conducted this week feature a Frozen II soundtrack backdrop, overlaid with the dulcet tones of a toddler rattling a doorknob and weeping to get into the room.

It's frustrating to me that so many bike bros I know are expressing an "I'm not afraid of a virus! We ride no matter what!" attitude about big group rides. It's not cool or badass, it's just selfish and ignorant. How hard is it to ride alone for a few weeks?

I'm baffled by how many former coworkers have asked for my advice on working from home without eating all day despite years of working next to me in an office and watching me eat all day

You shouldn’t let your grief for Elizabeth Warren's campaign make you give up on the ideals that made you support her in the first place.
