Today all parties in the House of Commons — with the exception of the Conservatives — voted to send the budget bill to the Senate.

To support low-wage workers, the budget contains the expansion of the Canada Workers Benefit so more full-time workers will receive the benefit, and would provide extra support to nearly 1 million additional Canadians.

The budget will also enable a Canada-wide, early learning and child care system so young families can have access to affordable and high-quality care. This is good social policy, and it is good economic policy.
