I welcome the debate today in the House about how to best support seniors. While the pandemic has been hard on everyone, it has been hardest on seniors. Our government supported them with one-time payments that provided low-income senior couples $1500, tax-free. (thread)

  Given longer lifespans & demographics, restoring the OAS eligibility back to 65 was a clear mistake, although it was politically expedient. Do the right things for the country, not your party.

  Not all seniors are debilitated and not all seniors have other pensions to live on ...we need a living (wage) pension. This will help the local economy because they can hire more help & get out to enjoy more. Seniors deserve $2k a month per perso to pay for their mortgage.

  Pointed out by a Bloc MP, in the last ten years Sr's OAS has only increased $91. Last yr it increased by 0.1% in the last quarter.
